“Russian judges will not go to the Paris Olympics for personal reasons” – Mamiashvili

Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) President Mikhail Mamiashvili told that Russian wrestling judges Noravard Arustamyan, Sergey Kovalenko and Alexey Bazulin refused to travel to the Paris Olympics for personal reasons.

Russian referees received the maximum quota for the Olympic Games: three representatives. In total, the body of judges of the Olympic wrestling tournament includes about 50 people.

— Judges Noravard Arustamyan, Alexey Bazulin and Sergey Kovalenko refused to go to the Olympics. They have personal circumstances that prevent them from going at the moment. They do not have the opportunity,” Mamiashvili told .

The IOC announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a national flag, anthem or other symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.

The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
