The World Boxing Association (WBA) has decided to organize a fight between super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. and interim champion Albert Batyrgaziev reports the WBA press service.
The organization sent a formal notice to both sides on Tuesday and gave them 30 days to complete negotiations, with a deadline of August 22.
Batyrgaziev had already beaten Irishman Jono Carroll for the interim WBA super featherweight title in July and is now set to face Roach.
The 26-year-old Russian has 11 wins in the professional ring and no losses. The 28-year-old American Roach has 25 wins, losses and one draw.
