Bogachuk: I know Ortiz’s style. I need to be careful with him, not just throw punches

Bogachuk vs. Ortiz fight to take place on August 10

WBC World Champion in the light middleweight category, Ukrainian Sergey Bogachuk spoke about his preparation for the fight against the holder of the WBO International welterweight belt Virgil Ortiz.

“I know his style. I have experience training with him, I sparred with Ortiz a lot of time – maybe 50 rounds, maybe 70 rounds. Sparring is sparring, a fight is a fight – it’s still different.”

“Ortiz is fast, he’s strong, he’s a smart boxer. And he knows me too. It’s going to be a war. I need to be careful in this fight, not just throw punches. I need to be smart in this fight, smart in my aggression.”

The fight between Bogachuk and Ortiz will take place on August 10. The event will take place in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra arena in the famous Mandalay Bay casino.

At stake in the confrontation will be the interim WBC title, which is held by Bogachuk. The fight between Sergey and Virgil will take place under the auspices of the Riyadh Season.

Both boxers have already spoken about the confrontation. The Ukrainian emphasized that he is not going to part with the WBC interim world champion belt. Virgil stated that his boxing style is similar to Sergey’s.

Let us recall that the Ukrainian confidently defeated the American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place in late March in Las Vegas. Following 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.

Vergil Ortiz defeated Tomas Dulorme from Puerto Rico in his last fight. The American has won all his fights ahead of schedule.
