Iraqi judoka Sajjad Ghanim Sehen has tested positive for doping ahead of the Paris Olympics, according to the website of the International Drug Testing Agency (ITA).
The positive result was reported by a laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in Paris. During the athlete’s doping control on July 23, traces of the prohibited substances methandienone and boldenone (anabolic steroids) were found.
This is the first positive doping test at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sekhen has been notified and provisionally suspended in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and the IOC Anti-Doping Rules. He is prohibited from competing, training, coaching or participating in any activity during the Games.
Sehen has the right to request an analysis of the B sample, as well as to challenge the provisional suspension with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Paris Olympics will last until August 11.
