Eduard Vartanyan calls himself the best lightweight outside of the UFC and Bellator

Russian Edouard Vartanian told that he considers himself the best fighter in the world in the -70.3kg category among those competing outside of the American leagues Bellator and UFC.

Vartanyan, 33, has 25 wins and 4 losses; in his last fight, the Russian won the ASA League Grand Prix, defeating Artem Reznikov at the Sochi tournament. Vartanyan will hold his next fight in Chelyabinsk on August 23 against Alexander Grozin at the “Our Business” tournament.

— There’s almost a month left before your fight, what shape do you think you’ll have time to get into?

– I think my shape will be better than before, because I will fight in the category up to 77 kg, and usually cutting takes away 15-20% of your shape. There are already studies that prove it. And I already had a fight with Damir Ismagulov in the category up to 75 kg, I liked it (the fight took place according to the rules of K-1 – ed. “”).

— You won the ASA Grand Prix, what else do you want to do to consider yourself the best lightweight fighter competing in Russia?

“If I beat the next Grand Prix winner and also the ACA champion, then we can say that I will definitely be the best lightweight in Russia.

—And now, who is the best lightweight for you, competing outside of the UFC and Bellator?

“I am. It seems to me that it is obvious,” Vartanyan told .
