The Ukrainian’s promoter announced the amount for which he is ready to enter the ring with Joshua again
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight world champion Alexandra Usika, announced the amount for which the Ukrainian is ready to step into the ring again against the former world champion Anthony Joshua.
“Anthony Joshua has talked about a third fight. He’s a great champion, he’s changed a lot after the two fights with Usyk. We’ve seen Joshua fall and rise. It’s a tough fight to make because we’re at different levels now.”
“Before the first fight, Usyk was practically a no-name, and Joshua was a huge star in the UK. When Alexander beat him twice, Joshua still remained a big star in the UK, no matter what. So this fight can attract the attention of the whole world.”
“On the other hand, if we decide to make money, then maybe we’ll fight AJ for… two billion dollars. No, that’s too much. Two hundred thousand dollars per second, what’s that? Okay, that’s still too much. Let’s go with 200 million. That’s easier to wrap our heads around.”
The first fight between Usyk and Joshua took place in September 2021 – the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges (117:112, 116:112, 115:113). In August 2022, a rematch took place – the Ukrainian again celebrated a victory on points, but this time by a split decision of the judges (113:115, 115:113, 116:112).
In his last fight on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Alexander became the first absolute heavyweight champion in the four-belt era. In the heavyweight division, the last time the absolute title was held was by Lennox Lewis in 1999, but back then three titles were enough to win the title.
Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he held for more than a month.
The fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will take place on September 21.
