Coach and manager of 2020 Olympic champion Albert Batyrgazieva Eduard Kravtsov told that negotiations with the team of WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach of the United States would not be successful and the parties would be put up for auction.
On July 23, the WBA sent a formal notice to both sides and gave them 30 days to complete negotiations, with a deadline of August 22. Batyrgaziev had already beaten Irishman Jono Carroll for the interim WBA super featherweight title in July and is now set to face Roach.
“On the second day after the WBA resolution was published, we made an offer to Roach’s team, but have not received any response yet. Our team is ready to fight both at home and away. We have no problem leaving. If they make a good offer, we will go to them. And we have already proposed that the fight take place in Russia. But to be honest, I do not have confidence that they will make us a decent offer or go to Russia, so with a high probability, I think we will go to the auction,” Kravtsov told .
Russian Batyrgaziev, 26, has 11 wins in the professional ring and no losses. American Roach, 28, has 25 wins, losses and one draw.
