The fight was supposed to take place on August 24 in Manchester
Fight between Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) and former WBC light welterweight champion Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KO) will not take place on the scheduled date – August 24. The reason is injuryreceived by the Englishman during training.
Prograis, 35, commented on the news:
“I really put myself into this training camp. I was working my ass off in Las Vegas, setting up the camp, paying for everything, doing everything I had to do. I was busting my ass every day and watching Jack fight before I went to bed. And then this happened. It’s really frustrating.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn had previously said the winner of the Catterall-Prograis fight would face IBF champion Liam Parot in Sydney or Brisbane in November. Now the Australian will likely have to look for an alternative opponent.
Let us recall that the fight was scheduled for August 24 in Manchester. The venue was to be the Co-op Live arena near the Manchester City football club stadium.
Catterall’s most recent fight saw him defeat former undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylor via unanimous decision, giving Jack revenge for his 2022 loss to Taylor.
Prograis last entered the ring in December 2023. Regis lost to Devin Haney by unanimous decision, failing to take a single round in his favor.
