Angela Carini refused to continue the match against Iman Khelif who changed gender.

One of the boxing matches of the 1/8 finals of the tournament in the category up to 66 kg among women at the Olympics ended early and with a scandal.

Italian representative Angela Carini fought with Iman Khelif from Algeria. The latter, we recall, was a transgender athlete, and, despite having previously failed the gender test, received permission from the IOC to participate in competitions.

The fact that this IOC decision was wrong was known after 46 seconds of the match. The Algerian transgender fighter delivered a powerful blow to his opponent, after which Carini abandoned the further fight. The girl’s nose was broken and she was unable to fight.

I was used to suffering, but I had never received such blows, it was impossible to continue. I can’t say it’s illegal. I entered the ring to fight. But after the first minute I didn’t want to. I started to feel a lot of pain in my nose. I didn’t give up, but the blow was too painful, and I said I had enough. I walk with my head held high,” Carini said after the meeting.

We add that in 2023, Iman Khelif failed a hormonal test and was disqualified from the World Championship due to too high a level of testosterone.
