Two-time Olympic boxing champion Oleg Saitov, in a conversation with , called the performance of athletes who had already failed the gender test at the Paris Olympics a shame.
In 2023, the International Boxing Association (IBA) suspended Algerians Iman Khelif and Lin Yuting (Taiwan) from the World Championships in India for failing to meet eligibility criteria. Following gender testing, the athletes were found to have XY chromosomes. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) cleared them to compete in women’s competitions in 2024.
