Athletistic/OI-2024. Italian boxer Angela Carini has decided to retire after a scandalous fight at the Paris Olympics with Algerian athlete Iman Khelif, who failed the gender test. The fight, which took place in the round of 16, ended after 46 seconds when Carini refused to continue and left the ring in tears. Iman won.
“I leave with my head held high and I say goodbye to boxing,” Carini told La Stampa.
We add that Khelif and Taiwanese athlete Lin Yuting were disqualified from the 2023 World Championships for failing gender tests, but were allowed to participate in the Paris Olympics.
