Already preparing for the fight, Charles do Bronx made a point of initiating the provocation against Islam Makhachev. In an interview with the podcast “MMA Today”, the Brazilian fighter used strong words and sent a message to his opponent and also to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is the mentor of the candidate for the UFC lightweight title.
“Their arrogance will kill them. Both as a businessman and as a former fighter (Khabib). If they think they’re going to come here playing, nobody’s ever going to hit me harder than life has already hit me. I was a brat who was taken from the breath of the heart, from the rheumatism in the bones,” began Charles from the Bronx about preparing for the fight.
“The doctor said I wouldn’t fight or do anything sports, and I became UFC champion. I’m coming to your house, my friend, to fight you (Makhachev) to make history and continue as the lightweight champion. Listen carefully to what I’m saying to you. Your arrogance will kill you”, added the fighter.
Charles from the Bronx wanted to face Conor McGregor at the Brazil. In an interview with “Combate”, the São Paulo fighter highlighted his desire to face the Irishman on Brazilian soil and also stated that the interest in the confrontation is for the money. For the same reason, he would accept a lightweight fight with Islam Makhachev, the main name indicated by Ultimate.
“You [Khabib e Islam] they’re talking a lot of nonsense, they’re criticizing and I’m just in mine, respecting as I always respected all of you. Just pay attention: everything you say is in the media and is coming. Then don’t complain. That’s all I have to say”, concluded Charles from the Bronx in the podcast interview.
