Finn Helenius is considered a likely opponent
Shelley Finkel, former world heavyweight champion promoter Deontay Wilder (42-2, 41 KOs)said that preparations for the return of the boxer to the ring are nearing completion.
“Deontay trains in Las Vegas and is absolutely happy. We’re not entirely sure where the next fight will be, but we’ll find out soon. I think next week we will reach an agreement and announce the next opponent.”
“Nothing has been finalized yet. I once told Frank Warren [промоутеру Тайсона Фьюри]that is interested in Helenius. But the Finn is just one of the many candidates we’re looking at at the moment.”
Earlier it was reported that Finnish boxer Robert Helenius (34-3, 20 KOs) could become a likely opponent for Deontay. Preliminarily, the return of the American to the ring will take place in October this year.
Wilder in his last fights suffered two defeats from Tyson Fury: in 2020, the American lost the WBC championship belt to his opponent, and last fall he failed to return him in a rematch.
