Cameroonian native gives refugee team first-ever Olympic medal

Originally from Cameroon Cindy Ngamba guaranteed the first Olympic medal in the history of the refugee team.

On Sunday, Ngamba defeated Frenchwoman Michelle Davina in the quarterfinals of the 75kg boxing tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Thus, Ngamba secured at least the bronze. In the semifinals, she will meet Panamanian Atheina Bilon.

The refugee team is participating in the Summer Olympics for the third time. The team for the 2024 Games included 37 athletes.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
