Athletistic/Boxing. International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev has harshly commented on the situation of Algerian boxer Iman Khelif and Taiwanese representative Lin Yuting, who had previously failed the gender test.

In 2023, the IBA suspended Khelif and Lin Yuting from the World Championships in India for failing to meet eligibility criteria, confirming the presence of XY chromosomes in both athletes. Despite this, the IOC allowed them to compete in the women’s competitions at the 2024 Olympics. Italy’s Angela Carini broke down in tears after refusing to continue her round of 16 match against Khelif.

They should have done their own tests, but they didn’t and started to blame us,” Kremlev said, as reported by a Match TV correspondent.

Recall that boxing competitions at the Olympic Games are organized by a special division of the IOC. In June 2023, the IOC session expelled the IBA from the Olympic movement by a majority vote.
