The Ukrainian intends to have two fights before the end of 2024
Former light heavyweight world champion Alexander Gvozdik said that he will return to the ring on the undercard of the fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez – Edgar Berlangawhich is planned to be held on September 14.
“I’m getting ready to box on the Canelo undercard on September 14. I don’t expect it to be a top opponent, more of an easy throwback fight to get back into my element.”
“We are also working on a big fight, but I won’t reveal any names yet. Maybe something interesting will happen in December. I won’t say anything yet, because the negotiations are still in the early stages. We are working to make it a championship fight again.”
“Right now I’m focusing on September 14. The opponent? I think he’ll be known about a week before the fight.”
Gvozdyk suffered his second career defeat in June, losing to David Benavidez in a fight for the vacant WBC interim title. The American won the fight by unanimous decision at the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Earlier, in 2020, the Ukrainian ended his career, but then decided to return to professional boxing. From 2016 to 2019, he held the WBC world champion title in the light heavyweight category. In 2012, Alexander became an Olympic bronze medalist.
