Cuban wrestler Lopez Nunez wins the fifth Olympic gold medal of his career

Cuban Mijain Lopez Nunez won Olympic gold for the fifth time.

At the 2024 Olympic Games in France, the 41-year-old athlete won a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category up to 130 kg. In the final, he defeated Chilean Yasmani Acosta Fernandez – 6:0.

Lopez remains undefeated for five consecutive matches. Previously, he won at Beijing 2008, London 2012 (both times – category up to 120 kg), Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 (weight up to 130 kg).

Lopez is the only five-time Olympic champion in the history of any style of wrestling.
