Khelif, who failed gender test, discusses 2024 Olympics scandal: ‘It doesn’t matter what they say about me’

Algerian Iman Khelif said she did not pay attention to statements made to her in the context of the failed gender test.

On Tuesday, Khelif reached the final of the boxing tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the 66kg category. The Algerian has secured at least a silver medal at the Games.

“It doesn’t matter what they say about me about these conflicts. What is important for me is to stay on track and give my colleagues what they deserve. I know I am a talented person, and this (reaching the final) is a gift for all Algerians,” Khelif was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has suspended Khelif and Lin Yuting of Taiwan from the 2023 World Championships in India for failing to meet eligibility criteria. Following gender testing, the athletes were found to have XY chromosomes. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has admitted Khelif and Lin Yuting to women’s competitions in 2024.

The Olympic Games will end on August 11.
