Virgil prepares to face big-name opponents
WBO International Welterweight Title Holder Virgil Ortiz (21-0, 21 KO) spoke about possible opponents after the fight against the WBC world champion in the first middleweight division, Ukrainian Sergei Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KO).
“I really want to fight everyone. We have an option to fight Errol Spence at Cowboys Stadium. I’ve been dreaming about that for a long time.”
“I would love to fight Terence Crawford, because he is currently the number one pound-for-pound fighter. I would test myself against someone like that.”
“People like Sebastian Fundora. He’s a tall, lanky fighter. But I still have hopes for Spence because it’s a stadium fight.”
The fight between Bogachuk and Ortiz will take place on August 10. The event will take place in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra arena in the famous Mandalay Bay casino.
At stake in the confrontation will be the interim WBC title, which is owned by Bogachuk. The fight between Sergey and Virgil will take place under the auspices of the Riyadh Season.
Both boxers have already spoken about the confrontation. The Ukrainian emphasized that he is not going to part with the WBC interim world champion belt. Virgil stated that his boxing style is similar to Sergey’s.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian confidently defeated the American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place in late March in Las Vegas. Following 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.
Vergil Ortiz defeated Tomas Dulorme from Puerto Rico in his last fight. The American has won all his fights ahead of schedule.
