Another expert advises Anthony to rely on brute force
Former World Champion Carl Frampton commented on the upcoming rematch between the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs).
“Many people say that Usyk will win, and it’s hard to disagree with them. It’s a tough fight for both guys, but we know what Joshua has to do to try and beat Usyk – use his size and strength, be a bit of a badass.”
“I don’t think Joshua will be active for long. It worries me that he can’t fight at a high pace, push and get close to his opponent for a long fight. He needs to do it in bursts and I think that when he has a round where he uses a lot of energy, he needs to take a break from time to time for the next round. This is because of his size and build. But I think he should get close, he should use brute force.”
“Of course, Usyk is a very smart fighter. This time he will expect a different approach from Joshua as Anthony needs to change. If you put a gun to my head, I will say that Alexander will win this duel. But I don’t think it will be as easy as many think.”
“Joshua was exhausted and hit at the end of the first fight. In my opinion, in a rematch, if Anthony does not stop Usyk at the very beginning, then later he himself will lose ahead of schedule. I hope I’m wrong,” Frampton said.
Briton Frampton is a former world super bantamweight and featherweight champion between 2014 and 2018.
Earlier, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said that his ward would knock out Usyk in a rematch.
The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.
In Ukraine, the broadcast of the Usyk-Joshua rematch will be hosted by the MEGOGO media service. Oleksandr personally purchased the rights to broadcast his fight with AJ in order to transfer them to Ukrainian broadcasters for free.
Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision to become world heavyweight champion for the first time.
