Lin Yuting of Chinese Taipei, who previously failed a gender test, won boxing gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the final fight in the weight category up to 57 kg, Lin Yuting defeated Polish Julia Sheremeta by unanimous decision.
On Friday, at the Games in the French capital, Algerian Iman Khelif won gold in the weight category up to 66 kg. In 2023, the International Boxing Association (IBA) suspended Lin Yuting and Khelif from the World Championships in India for failing to meet eligibility criteria. Following the gender test, it was proven that the athletes have XY chromosomes. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed them to compete in women’s competitions in 2024, and the head of the organization, Thomas Bach, called for an end to discussions about athletes who failed the gender test.
The Paris Summer Olympics will end on August 11.
