In addition to Khelif, 25, Algeria’s flag bearer will be track and field athlete Djamel Sejati, bronze medallist in the 800m at the Paris Games on Saturday.

Another athlete who failed the gender test, Lin Yuting, representing the Chinese Taipei boxing team, also became her team’s flag bearer. On Saturday, in the final match in the 57kg category, Lin Yuting defeated Poland’s Julia Szeremeta by unanimous decision.
