RCC boxer, former IBF title contender Magomed Kurbanov spoke about hatred towards Algerian women Iman Khelif after the athlete’s victory at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
On Friday, Khelif, who failed the gender test, defeated China’s Yang Liu in the 66kg boxing final at the 2024 Olympics. Many social media users doubted the integrity of the Algerian victory.
“You still have to be able to survive all this hatred.” It seems to me that it is very difficult to withstand such psychological stress. On the other hand, Iman already has two million subscribers, and all this can have serious economic consequences in the future.
“I am not ready to speak from a moral point of view, but these Olympic Games have raised serious questions since their opening,” Kurbanov was quoted as saying by the Championship.
In 2023, the International Boxing Association (IBA) suspended Khelif from the World Championships in India for failing to meet eligibility criteria. Following the gender test, it was proven that the athlete has XY chromosomes. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) admitted Khelif to women’s competitions in 2024. Her results at the Games sparked strong reactions in the media and society. The Algerian woman complained of harassment on social media, her father showed her birth certificate to prove that the athlete was born a girl.
The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
