“I don’t think Dad is very happy about it.” Tim Tszyu – on the upcoming fight against the Russian boxer

Representative of Australia Tim Tszyu believes that his father, the former absolute world boxing champion Constantin Tszyu is not very happy with his son’s fight against the current holder of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior middleweight belt, Russian Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Earlier in the media, it was reported that the IBF had ordered Murtazaliev to defend his title against former World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion Tszyu.

“I don’t think Dad is very happy about it.” But I think it’s a great opportunity for me. I grew up in a Russian family. As soon as you walk through the door of my grandparents’ house, you’re transported from Australia to Russia to the Soviet Union.

The Russian boxing school is a big part of my education. I really want to fight a Russian boxer, it will be an interesting fight. In Russian boxing schools, the style is different. You wouldn’t want to fight Soviet fighters because you don’t know what to expect from them. They have such complicated last names. They are incredibly dangerous fighters with bulletproof minds. I hope my next opponent will be exactly like that.

— Who will the Russians support in your battle?

– I am proud of my origins. But I was born and raised in Australia. So I don’t think they will choose me, “Tszyu told the YouTube channel No Limit Boxing AU.

Tszyu, 29, lost a split decision to American Sebastian Fundora in Las Vegas in late March to suffer the first defeat of his career. He failed to defend the WBO world title and win the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight belt.

Murtazaliev is 31 years old and has won 22 times in 22 fights.
