Terence Crawford relinquishes WBO welterweight belt

American Terence Crawford declined the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight belt, according to the WBO’s publication.

American Brian Norman Jr., 23, has become the new WBO welterweight champion.

On August 4, Crawford defeated Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to win the WBA junior middleweight belt. He also received the interim WBO junior middleweight title. The 36-year-old American became champion in the fourth weight class.

Journalist Michael Benson wrote on social media that Crawford could also give up the WBA welterweight belt. In this case, the new owner of the belt will be 29-year-old Eimantas Stanionis from Lithuania.

Crawford is 36 years old and is an undefeated boxer with 41 victories in the professional ring.
