French judoka Teddy Riner announced that he will undergo elbow surgery after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
At the home Olympics, Riner won gold in the over 100 kg weight category and also helped the French team win the mixed team tournament.
— I have three weeks of vacation, but I might need an extra week. After that, I will have a medical examination to find out what is recommended for my right elbow. It will need surgery. It will be great to have the old elbow back,” Riner, 35, is quoted by L’Equipe.
Riner is a five-time Olympic champion and 12-time world champion.
