As previously reported by representatives of the Federal Tax Service in a commentary on , the department registered the debts of the Russian athlete after non-payment of taxes “on income received from abroad for the tax period from 2019 to 2021.” Later, the Federal Bailiff Service confirmed the start of administrative proceedings due to the athlete’s debt in the amount of 79 million rubles. On Thursday, the Shot Telegram channel reported that Khabib Nurmagomedov had repaid a debt in the amount of 302 million rubles (previously, several sources indicated an amount close to 300 million).

We had a difficult question, from the point of view of interpretation of legal norms, regarding taxes in the amount of about 26 million rubles. Lawyers had one opinion, the tax authority had another, but, again, thanks to constructive work and after an inspection by a higher tax authority, we paid the above amount with all penalties in the prescribed manner.
There was never any question of non-payment or tax evasion. We patiently waited for the tax authorities’ decision to finally pay the amount required by law. The situation is actually standard and can happen to any citizen. But unfortunately, the story has become disproportionate.
