Teddy Atlas: I’m going to bet on Derevyanchenko not being at the end of his rope

The 10-round fight between Derevyanchenko and Mbilly will take place on Saturday, August 17

Famous coach Teddy Atlas commented on the upcoming fight between the French super middleweight boxer Christian Mbilly (27-0, 22 KO) and Ukrainian Sergey Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KO).

“I think we’re going to have an exciting fight. It’s going to be in Quebec, Canada, at M’Billi’s home arena. I’m going to bet on Derevyanchenko not being knocked out yet. I’m going to bet on him not being at the end of his rope yet.”

“I’m sure Derevyanchenko still has enough strength left to survive what M’Billi is going to throw at him. Christian is going to throw a lot of punches.”

Let us recall that the 10-round fight between Derevyanchenko and Mbilly will take place on Saturday, August 17, in Quebec (Canada). The event will be held at the Videotron Center arena. Earlier, in May, it became known that the Ukrainian and French sides had made a deal for this fight.

Mbilly, 29, is a Frenchman of Cameroonian descent. On the night of May 26, he defeated Britain’s Mark Heffron by technical knockout in the first round. This victory was Christian’s seventh defense of the WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title.

In April in New York, Derevyanchenko confidently won on points against American Vaughn Alexander. Earlier, Sergey lost to Mexican Jaime Munguia by decision. At the end of last year, Sergey said that he plans to compete in the professional arena for about two more years, and his main goal remains winning the title.
