Derevyanchenko’s coach: I asked Sergey if he wanted to stop the fight, he refused

The Ukrainian spent most of the fight with Christian Mbilly with an injured hand

Andre Rosiercoach of Ukrainian super middleweight boxer Serhiy Derevyanchenko (15-6, 10 KO) said that the Ukrainian himself refused to stop the fight against the Frenchman Christiana Mbilly (28-0, 22 KOs).

“He has the heart of a warrior. He had a torn bicep, we all know how painful that can be. I asked him, ‘Do you want me to stop this fight?’ He said, ‘No.’

“That’s the sign of a warrior. He fought one of the best super middleweights with one hand. With one hand. And he gave it all he had.”

In the third round, Derevyanchenko injured his left hand, which forced him to box with his right hand for the rest of the fight. The Ukrainian continued the fight and lost by unanimous decision.

Derevyanchenko suffered his sixth defeat in the professional ring, while Mbilly still does not know the bitterness of defeat. For the Frenchman, this fight was the second in the last three months – in May, Christian defeated the British Mark Heffron by technical knockout in the first round.

In the fight with Sergey Derevyanchenko, Mbilly successfully defended his WBC Continental Americas title in the super middleweight division for the eighth time. The Ukrainian had previously said that he planned to fight in the professional arena for about two more years, and that his main goal remains winning the title.
