Leffler: Bogachuk will have his next fight at the end of the year, possibly on the undercard of the Usyk-Fury rematch

Turki Al ash-Sheikh offered the Ukrainian’s team to take part in one of his boxing events

Tom Leffler, promoter of the Ukrainian Sergei Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KOs), said that his protégé may hold his next fight on the undercard of the second fight between the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC belts in the heavyweight division Alexander Usik and ex-WBC champion Tyson Fury.

“Sergey’s star took off after the fight with Vergil Ortiz. I don’t know why no one gave him a chance before that fight. He was a five-to-one underdog.”

“It was great that Turki Al ash-Sheikh was there in person and saw how great Sergey performed. He also said that he thought Bogachuk won the fight, or at worst it should have been a draw.

“He really liked Sergey. He came to us after the fight and said he wanted Bogachuk to be on his next show, which will be later this year. It could definitely be the December 21 event in Saudi Arabia. Sergey is ready for the fight. It would be great if Bogachuk fought on the undercard of his compatriot, heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk, fighting Tyson Fury.”

Bogachuk lost to Vergil Ortiz by split decision in his last fight. In the first and eighth rounds, Bogachuk knocked his opponent down. However, after 12 rounds, one judge recorded a draw, while the other two gave preference to Ortiz.

Earlier, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al Al-Sheikh, confirmed that the second fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place on December 21. In the first fight, the Ukrainian won by split decision and became the absolute world champion in the heavyweight division.
