Athletistic / Boxing. World heavyweight champion according to WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO, Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik spoke about his passion for football. He named his favourite football club, as well as his favourite players.

“When I was younger, I always supported Manchester United. I was a fan of Harry Neville and others – especially David Beckham. It was difficult to play for Manchester United then. But if we talk about my favourite footballers, then, maybe. There was Andrei Shevchenko, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo – that old guy with teeth. Obviously, Messi and the second Ronaldo were also big players for me.

“I always wanted to be a footballer and I love training with Polesye. This story gave me the opportunity to take a break for a while and move away from boxing. I didn’t celebrate my victory over Fury in May 2024 in the usual way. I just had a quiet dinner with my family and spent time playing football. At that time, I didn’t even think about becoming the absolute world champion,” Usik told the British edition of the Daily Mail.

Alexander Usik has 22 wins and remains an undefeated boxer. The 37-year-old Ukrainian will soon begin preparations for a rematch with another Briton, Tyson Fury. It is scheduled for December 21.
