Charlo was arrested on three separate charges: driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of more than 0.15 ppm (while the legal limit for driving in Texas is 0.08 ppm), fleeing from a police officer, and attempting to flee the scene of an accident causing damage of $200 or more.
The American boxer was subsequently released on bail of $9,500. For such offenses, Charlo could be fined $2,000, sentenced to six months in prison, or deprived of the right to drive for a year.
Jermall Charlo’s last fight was in November 2023, when he won a unanimous decision over Jose Benavidez Jr. In May 2024, the American was stripped of the WBC title following the aforementioned car accident.
