Shabliy and Nurmagomedov will face off on September 7 in San Diego, challenging for the promotion’s lightweight championship belt. In October, Nurmagomedov defeated American Brent Primus in the semifinals of the Bellator Grand Prix; the result of that fight was later overturned. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) suspended Nurmagomedov for six months, while the fighter retains his championship belt.
