Lerena: I think Fury can win the rematch

The second fight between Usyk and Fury will take place on December 21

WBC Interim Bridgerweight Champion Kevin Lerena said that the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury can beat the Ukrainian Alexandra Usika in their future revenge.

“I think Fury can win the rematch. I’m for Tyson Fury. He and his team have been very good to me. Of course, I work with Spencer Brown, he’s one of my managers. Fury’s team has been very good to me, so I’m always rooting for Tyson. I’m fully behind him.”

“Can Fury beat Usyk in a rematch? Absolutely. I think he can do it, because we saw how close the first fight was. I think he needs to make some adjustments, but only Fury knows about them. He knows exactly what he needs to do. Fury has been fighting for a long time. If he wins, it will be a guarantee for a good trilogy, right? Can he win? Yes. Will Tyson win? It will not be easy, but if he makes the necessary adjustments, then I believe Fury will win,” Lerena said.

On the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted Fury’s first defeat in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The Ukrainian was awarded the victory by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he held for more than a month.

Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he will seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
