President of the St. Petersburg Judo Club Turbostroitel Mikhail Rakhlin told that it was a surprise for him to receive the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
On Monday it became known that Rakhlin was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky. He was awarded for his great contribution to the development and popularization of judo in the Russian Federation and for his active social activities.
— How unexpected was this assessment by the state for you?
– It was unexpected for me. I assumed that I could receive some kind of award, but not such a high award. Even more unexpected and pleasant was the awarding of the Order of Honor to our Turbostroitel club. It happened on September 5, the club’s birthday. This award is given to the entire team of our sports club; it unites tens of thousands of boys and girls who have experienced it for all these years.
— Do rewards like these encourage you to develop further?
– Certainly. This is the attitude of the Russian president to our club, to my father, who founded the club. This is trust, respect and honor, they must be justified and we must continue to work. I have not seen and I do not know that in the history of Russia a sports team of physical culture has received such an honorary distinction,” Rakhlin told .
Mikhail Rakhlin is the son of the famous judo and sambo coach Anatoly Rakhlin. One of his students is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
