The former UFC champion broke both arms in the fight. He is awaiting an operation.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Anthony Pettis undergo surgery on both hands.

The American fighter was injured in a fight against Stevie Ray in the PFL playoffs last week, in which he lost by unanimous decision.

“It’s time for surgery and the start of the recovery process,” Pettis wrote on social media.

Earlier, Pettis revealed the extent of the damage by showing x-rays of fractures to his left hand and right thumb.

This isn’t the first time Pettis has suffered such an injury. He broke his right arm against Tony Ferguson at UFC 229 nearly four years ago.
