UFC will have its fights returning to the country next year, three years after the last time the event landed in Brasilia, in March 2020
UFC fights will be back in Brazil next year! After a long wait, the date for Ultimate’s return has finally been set. The organization scheduled the event for January 21, in Rio de Janeiro, at the Jeunesse Arena and made the announcement this Wednesday morning, 10, on its social networks, to the delight of fans.
The card in question, which will take place in the wonderful city, will be the UFC 283 and still doesn’t have the official fights set for the date. It is worth remembering that this will be the 11th time that Rio de Janeiro hosts an edition of the UFC. The last one was in 2019, when Jessica Bate-Estaca beat Rose Namajunas, by knockout, at UFC 237 and got the strawweight belt (up to 52kg).
The most recent UFC card in Brazil was on March 14, 2020, when Charles do Bronx, still without having won the lightweight belt (up to 70kg), submitted Kevin Lee in the main event at Nilson Nelson gym, in Brasilia. On the occasion, the event was held without the presence of the public, since that week the coronavirus pandemic was decreed in the country.
Brazilian detonating
While the UFC does not officially arrive in Brazil, Brazilian fighters continue to put on a show wherever they go. The last of them, or rather the last of them, was Amanda Nuneswhich won the American Julianna Pena and regained her bantamweight title. She practically didn’t give her opponent space to breathe throughout the five rounds, which were impressive.
The Brazilian showed all her technique, worked since losing to Peña in the previous match, ran away from the dangers, left her rival’s face all full of blood and won the unanimous decision, being 50-45, 50-44 and 50-43, to hold back the title in the under-61.2kg division and return to being the “champ-champ” of the UFC.
