“A fight with Ngannou would be a very easy fight for Malykhin” – League One manager Chatri Sityodtong

One Championship organization chairman Chatri Sityodtong, in a conversation with , assessed the chances Anatoly Malykhina in potential battles with Francis Ngannou and UFC champion Jon Jones.

Malykhin, 36, is currently the One Championship champion in three weight classes; the Russian will next fight in the United States against Umar Kane.

“This fall, there will be title fights against the best heavyweights in each league. Francis Ngannou will compete in the PFL and Jon Jones will defend his belt in the UFC. Do you consider Malykhin the best heavyweight at the moment?

– Yes, 100% Anatoly Malykhin is currently the best heavyweight on the planet, he has a record of 14-0, he has finished 100% of his fights ahead of schedule. He is a former wrestler of the Russian national team, a very high-level grappler, he has punching power in his punches, he is very athletic, fast, unstoppable. If I am not mistaken, he has never lost, even in amateur fights. So yes, I think Anatoly is by far the best heavyweight on the planet. If you look at other organizations, their major divisions are not as strong.

— If we talk about technique and tactics, how do you imagine the fight between Malykhin and Ngannou or Jones?

— The fight with Francis is a very, very easy fight for Anatoly, because styles determine fights. Yes, Francis has very dangerous KO power, but he can’t wrestle and has limited ground skills. He’s a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, and Anatoly is a “monster” on the ground. He’s the best fighter in Siberia (that means victories in the amateur championships of the Siberian Federal District and Russia. – ). He’s a killer. So the way I would see this fight is that Anatoly throws a quick double punch, lands on the bottom and the fight ends.

I think the fight with Jon Jones would have been tougher, but Anatoly’s strength combined with his athleticism gives an advantage. He’s faster than Jones, he’s got a better grappling and more knockout power, more one-punch knockout ability. But it would be a very interesting fight, very exciting. Jones said he plans to retire after the tournament in November, so he’s at the very end of his career. And Anatoly is just starting out, he’s very fresh. He’s taken care of everyone who’s stood in his way, so I think he would have taken down those two heavyweights pretty easily,” Sityodtong told .
