President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili reported that the vice president of the United World of Wrestling (UWW), Russian Natalya Yarygina, is applying to join the office of this international organization.
The UWW reporting and election conference will be held on October 27 in Tirana (Albania). Yarygina was elected to the UWW office in 2018, her term expires in 2024.
— The UWW office and reporting and election conference will be held in Tirana, where, among other things, they will elect a representative of Russia to the office, Natalia Alekseevna Yarygina. This is a crucial moment. I hope that the struggle community will determine the qualities of this or that person not by political preferences imposed from the outside, but by the quality of work and the importance of the person in the world organization. We have every reason to hope for a positive outcome of the elections. We ourselves have never been guided by mercantile or pseudo-political realities to support this or that person, only by the quality of their work. An American representative will show up, I will support him, I am convinced that the Americans will also support Natalia Yarygina, they know her, what contribution she makes, how she works,” Mamiashvili told .
Earlier in September, the United World Wrestling Bureau updated the criteria for admission of Russian and Belarusian wrestlers to international competitions, according to which athletes’ affiliation with CSKA and Dynamo will not constitute an obstacle to application at major tournaments.
