The rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usik will take place on December 21 in Saudi Arabia
Former WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) said that in preparation for a rematch against the holder of the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO belts in the heavyweight division Alexandra Usika (22-0, 14 KOs) the length of preparation does not matter to him.
“I’m ready to make some noise. Look, I don’t need a 12-week boot camp. I’ve been boxing all my life. I’m ready to fight today, tomorrow, next week, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday – it really doesn’t matter.”
“I can go into the ring weighing 190 kilograms and go 15 rounds. This was given to me by nature. See what I mean? I just need 5-6 weeks of good sparring where I don’t get cut. In the camp we were too worried about the cut, because it cost a lot of money, but did not even play a role in the battle.”
Let us remember that on the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will prepare for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. Tyson Fury said he will begin training six to seven weeks before the fight.
