The Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat Kadyrov, called on Chechen fighters to stop participating in pop-MMA tournaments.
Pop MMA are fights according to various rules, in which non-professional fighters, most of them famous bloggers, take part.
— I address the representatives of the Chechen Republic participating in the pop-MMA. Your activities and conduct inside and outside the ring are deeply disturbing and a disgrace to the honor of our people and the faith we follow.
Chechens have always been famous for their dignified behavior, based on deep-rooted traditions and values. The decent behavior of every representative of our people is an integral part of our culture.
In addition, among Chechens there has always been the concept of the Word (DOSH), which was not just a word, but a symbol of honor, dignity and responsibility. It had its owner and its value was determined by the value placed on the name of that person and their family. Conscience, dignity and honor stood behind the Word.
Today, unfortunately, we see some of you insulting this sacred heritage in your press conferences and public speeches. Your antics, obscenities and inappropriate insults not only humiliate you, but also dishonor the entire Chechen people and the Muslim community as a whole. You call into question the efforts of hundreds of thousands of people who try to preserve and develop our traditions.
Despite numerous warnings, you continue to behave as if you do not understand the consequences of your actions. We cannot remain indifferent to the way your behavior undermines respect for our people and our culture.
I encourage all representatives of Chechen nationality participating in pop MMA to focus on tournaments consistent with our traditions and culture.
This is the final warning. Stop your pop-MMA activities, because they contradict our traditions and values. Otherwise, specific measures will be taken. We can no longer tolerate this kind of behavior,” Akhmat Kadyrov wrote on the Telegram channel.
