Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev and co-promoter Dmitri Bivol Eddie Hearn got into a minor verbal spat during a press conference in Riyadh.
The fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion between the undefeated Russians Beterbiev and Bivol will take place on October 12 in Saudi Arabia. Bivol has 23 victories and holds the IBO and WBA light heavyweight belts. Beterbiev has 20 debut victories and holds the IBF, WBO and WBC championship belts.
– I think we talked a lot. I would like to thank the organizers of this fight. So, you want to arrange a fight with Eddie Hearn? – Beterbiev turned to the presenter.
– Don’t think about me. Think of Dmitry Bivol,” Hearn retorted. “I don’t think it will be a good fight (with me).
— In bad conditions? – asked Beterbiev.
– Terrible. I think you need to focus on Bivol,” Hearn responded.
“You talk a lot,” Beterbiev said.
“It’s my job, you have to try it too,” Hearn retorted.
— What would you like to see on Saturday? — the presenter asked Beterbiev.
“I am ready for a good fight, we will show it,” Beterbiev replied.
— Do you have a message for Bivol? – question from the presenter.
“Yes, be ready, because I am well prepared,” Beterbiev said.
“I’m ready and we’ll talk in the ring,” Bivol concluded.
