The organization continues to implement measures to officially represent boxing within the IOC structure
Boxing organization World Boxing agreed to delegate the review of all violations of anti-doping legislation Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS AAD) in Lausanne.
The Division is a special division of CAS that deals exclusively with anti-doping hearings. CAS ADD will be the first authority to review all alleged violations identified by World Boxing’s anti-doping processes and will decide on appropriate sanctions for any rule violation.
World Boxing previously entered into a four-year agreement with the International Testing Agency (ITA). As part of this arrangement, the ITA will manage the entire in- and out-of-competition doping control program, results management, athlete training and management of Athlete Biological Passports (ABPs) and Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) processing. Any violations found during testing will be reported to CAS ADD.
World Boxing continues to work to officially represent boxing within the International Olympic Committee. Previously, the organization appointed former middleweight world champion and current head of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin as chairman of the Olympic Commission.
The body is headed by a Provisional Council made up of representatives of the federations of Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and the USA. In April this year, the federation held the U-19 World Championship. The world championship among adults is planned for 2025.
The decision to include boxing in the 2028 Olympics has been postponed. Earlier, the IOC withdrew recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA). The IOC Executive Committee concluded that the IBA did not fulfill all the requirements that were put before the organization.
The IOC plans to begin the admission procedure for the new boxing federation in 2025. If the new governing body does not start work on time, boxing risks not being included in the 2028 Olympics.
World Boxing has agreed to delegate adjudication on all anti-doping violations to the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS AAD), a separate entity of the CAS which deals solely with Anti-doping hearings.
