The Irishman’s opponent will be Dan Hooker
Former champion UFC in two weight categories Conor McGregor announced his return to the Octagon. The Irishman intends to fight with Dan Hooker (24-12, 11 KOs) February 1.
“February 1st. Saudi Arabia. Dan Hooker is a good guy,” McGregor said.
Hooker is the number five ranked lightweight in the UFC. The New Zealander had his last fight in August at the UFC 305 event, defeating Pole Mateusz Gamrot.
McGregor fought his last fight in the Octagon in July 2021, losing to Dustin Poirier. Earlier, the Irishman challenged the legendary Filipino boxer, former world champion in eight weight categories, Manny Pacquiao.
Let us remember that in April it was officially announced that the 36-year-old ex-champion would return to the Octagon after an almost three-year break. McGregor had scheduled a fight with former Bellator champion Michael Chandler on June 29 in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena as part of the UFC 303 event. However, on June 13, the UFC canceled the fight, citing Conor’s injury.
