Absolute light heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev said he understood people’s interest in a possible rematch with Dmitri Bivol .
Vadim Kornilov, manager of former WBA and IBO light heavyweight champion Bivol, said the Russian boxing team had submitted a request for a rematch with Beterbiev. Information about the filing of a rematch request was confirmed by lawyer Patrick English, who represents the interests of Bivol.
The fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion took place on October 12 in Riyadh; Beterbiev, 39, won by majority decision. After the fight, Kornilov said that the Bivol team planned to challenge the decision of referee Pavel Kardyni, who recorded Beterbiev’s victory with a score of 116-112.
