British World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Tyson’s Fury announced his retirement on his birthday.
A huge thank you to everyone who has invested in my career over the years. After long and intense negotiations, I finally decided to leave. On my 34th birthday, I say, “Bon voyage.” On my path, there were people who made it special. Many thanks to my wife Paris. She helped me more than anyone,” Fury wrote on his Twitter page.
Fury announced his retirement in April after beating Dillian Whyte. Afterwards, the boxer said he would be ready to return to the ring for the fight with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk if he beat Anthony Joshua again in a rematch, which would take place on August 20.
Fury won 32 out of 33 fights in the professional ring and ended one more fight in a draw.
