Sergey will fight an opponent from Uzbekistan on December 21, on the undercard of the rematch between Fury and Usik
Tom LefflerUkrainian promoter Sergei Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KO), shared his expectations from the fight of his charge with the former world champion in junior middleweight from Uzbekistan Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs).
“Madrimov is another difficult fight, but I think it will be a win for Sergey. This is another big opportunity for Sergei. If he can beat Madrimov, it means he’s had a tremendous year.”
“He fought with Brian Mendoza, Virgil Ortiz. Remember, Virgil Ortiz at the time had a record of 20-0 with 20 knockouts, and people were anticipating, they were actually betting on him knocking out Bogachuk. When Bogachuk knocked him down twice, it opened people’s eyes to the fact that Bogachuk is truly an amazing fighter.”
The Bogachuk – Madrimov fight will take place on December 21 in Riyadh, on the undercard of the rematch between WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight world champion Alexander Usik and former WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury.
Bogachuk lost to Virgil Ortiz by split decision in his last fight. In the first and eighth rounds, Bogachuk knocked down his opponent. However, after 12 rounds, one judge recorded a draw, the other two gave preference to Ortiz.
Madrimov also lost his last fight. In August, the Uzbek fighter lost to Terence Crawford in the fight for the interim WBO junior middleweight title. Israil also lost his WBA belt, won in March in a fight with Magomet Kubranov.
