ACA Champion Evgeny Goncharov believes that Khamzat Chimaev will soon become the UFC champion.
On Saturday, Chimaev, who represents the United Arab Emirates, defeated former UFC middleweight champion Australian Whittaker early in the first round at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
“Chimaev surprised not only me, but also the whole world. He had a great fight, it was a dominant performance against a very strong opponent. I don’t remember anyone in the UFC putting Whittaker to the ground and winning by submission in the first round. Khamzat deserved to fight for the belt. With this attitude and approach, he is the UFC champion in five minutes,” RB Sport quotes Goncharov.
Chimaev earned his 14th victory in 14 MMA fights, Whittaker suffered his eighth defeat in 34 fights.
