The British boxer’s mentor analyzed his ward’s defeat.
SugarHill Steward, trainer of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, spoke about the first fight with WBC, WBA and WBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk, which the Briton lost by split decision.
The British boxer’s mentor told what happened to his ward in that fight.
“Fury got caught. That’s what happened. He got caught in the ninth round. What more can I say?
This is called close combat. If it’s a close fight, how on earth can anyone count it in favor of one boxer or the other? If you say he’s close, if he’s so close, how can you count him in favor of a boxer or something?
How can you be sure that I won or I didn’t win, or someone else did or didn’t win, if it was so close? soon. If it’s only a close fight, guess what? You will have three solutions. Either you win, it’s a draw, or you lose. It’s that simple.
Usyk was as strong as he was before the fight, he’s always been a great boxer,” Steward told Boxing King Media.
We remind you that the rematch between Usik and Fury will take place on December 21 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Fury’s promoter previously said what he needs to change to beat Usyk.
