The head coach of the Russian taekwondo team, Vadim Ivanov, told that the World Taekwondo Federation has allowed Russian athletes to participate in all international competitions.
At the beginning of 2024, World Taekwondo changed the conditions for admitting Russians to international competitions in neutral status. The Federation Council unanimously approved the participation of Russian athletes in tournaments recognized by World Taekwondo, provided that they are allowed to participate in competitions organized by the organization.
— We were allowed to participate in all international competitions. Previously we had some restrictions, but already this year our juniors participated in the World Championships in Korea, and now our cadets aged 12-14 are preparing to participate in the European Championships on November 5. From November 20 to 24, the European Championship for youth teams – juniors under 21 will take place.
Previously, a limited number of us were allowed to participate in ranking tournaments, that is, larger competitions – Grand Prix series, Grand Prix finals, Grand Slam tournaments, the World and European Championships. We are now admitted to all competitions under the auspices of the World Taekwondo Federation.
— But to participate in tournaments you will have to obtain neutral status?
“Yes,” Ivanov told .
